Styling a Mini-bag as Cross-body

As of this year I gave in to this staple, for the challenge if not for the necessity. When styling a Mini-bag, the key is to always have the big picture of your look and know exactly what you want to say with what you’re wearing. Otherwise you may end up looking boring, dated, un-interested in fashion. Which is perfectly fine, unless you’re aiming for the opposite. I’ve always felt mini bags looks better in more structured shapes.

The most stylish way of styling a mini-bag is wearing it as crossbody. No need breaking the bank to own one, no need becoming a Louis Vuitton bag copycat, what matters though is that it looks polished & new. It may be as simple as plain day, if it has structure and a quality material it will look fantastic. Slouchy black bags need a bit more attention in styling but it’s worth a shot.

Denim Head to Toe Trend

Back in the day draping yourself in denim was a fashion faux-pas, but as fashion is by definition a multitude of uncertainties-in a good way and constant changes, today, Denim On Denim has turned into a massive trend. For the past two years I think this Duo Denim Trend is trying to make a way and settle in as that uber cool look any respectable fashionista can don without looking like a fashion victim. And since practice makes perfect, its hard work paid off.

Not a new invention in the least, still feels good though to know it’s perfectly fine to keep on rocking the denim top with any type of bottoms, given they are denim too. What’s the catch? No catch. Though it used to be ”don’t do same color denim on denim” but eff that, you know-lol. Don’t let anyone tell you to not wear something when it looks amazing and you’re just having fun with it. So how to wear denim on denim? However you like it, but just for the sake of the fashion game let’s play along :) Thank you!

Veiled Beanies To Trend in 2014?

I really caught my first glimpse of Bryan Boy wearing this and I thought this is a lot later in the game but I decided I really like it. Everyone is Wearing Jil Sander's Veiled Beanie Hat and could actually trend again in 2014. I think wearing it is even more fun than looking at it. I will share a photo of my DIY when I'm done. Halima Abubakar's Ripped Jeans

Hardly a new trend, the ripped jeans look is gaining more and more spotlight due to this thing in fashion we like to call effortlessness. Could we blame those off duty models for this one? I mean they do own this can’t-be-bothered-style and loose sophistication-wearing some old ripped T-shirt paired with a sequined skirt and unlaced boots in between shows. Or those ripped boyfriend jeans that make her look like a rockstar doll. Yep. I think these girls are to blame for our constant chase to look posh yet unprepared.

2014 Trend: Silk Oleku

Silk has made a massive comebacks in the past years. Ever since Dolce & Gabbana showed their SS collections packed with Russian motives on printed mini dresses, and models wearing printed silky scarves of both Russian & Italian inspiration wrapped around their heads – the fashion world was hooked on Russian inspired everything!

Fashion trends come and go but with Yoruba people, the common Iro and Buba have remained a staple. For some of us that don't know, this consista of a loose neck blouse called Buba and a wrap skirt, otherwise known as wrapper in Engish or Iro in Yoruba, worn in a particular way- what we modern, fashion conscious youths and post-youths refer to as Oleku!

 Can you keep a secret? Well, Toke Makinwa can. After years of rumors of breaking up,  the on-air-personality kept her weekend a secret from the public until after a trip down the aisle. We all know marriage is a thing of joy but she opted for a quiet one. She shared her wedding photos with her fans on Instagram few hours ago. She dazzled in a beautiful bridal dress designed by AprilbyKunbi with a flawless make up by Joyce Jacob. She looks absolutely Stunning!!! Congrats again girl and welcome to the club.

 

Jennifer Lawrence's Dior Frock Spawns Viral #Lawrencing Meme

The social media had been buzzing about Jennifer Lawrence's strapless white gown with two thin, horizontal bands of black since the moment she first arrived on the red carpet of the Annual Golden Globes Award. The U.K. Daily Mail first tweeted about the gown saying  it resembled a "glam coffee filter." Fashion critic Booth Moore called the choice odd, describing it as a "ring of pouf."-I agree

As the evening wore on, armchair fashion critics rose up and became armchair fashion designers. The first hilarious photo was Green Arrow actor Colton Haynes posted side-by-side photos on Instagram and Twitter. On the left was the dress on the red carpet, on the right was Haynes aping Lawrence's expression while wrapped in what looks like a white bed sheet accented with two horizontal black bands

Then, there was a dog -- clad in a white pillow case and two horizontal strips of black fabric -- that was doing its best JLaw imitation. An hour after that it was a cat in a white terrycloth hand towel and two pieces of black string being held aloft in a photo. Later,  Buzzfeed's Jordan Zakarian had rounded it all up by posting "Jennifer Lawrence's Golden Globes Dress Has All Of The Internet 'Lawrencing'" and by Monday morning the freshly minted hashtag #Lawrencing was everywhere -- a Barbie doll "Lawrenced" in a roll of toilet paper and black pipe cleaners on Tumblr, Ariel (she of "The Little Mermaid") was posted "Lawrencing" in a repurposed sail and length of rope, and anyone and everyone with access to a white sheet (or in some cases quilted comforter) and roll of black electrical tape was taking a selfie of themselves in full #Lawrencing mode.This is absolutely ludicrous! I'm waiting to see a photo from my naija people-lol

For the past year or so red lipstick started getting a hue darker every time a celeb donned it on the red carpet, until wearing black (or close to it anyway) lipstick was the coolest thing ever. The way I see it, we could blame this uber cool yet not-so-flattering-on-everyone-beauty-trend on either Rihanna or Azealia Banks. Now, four of our celebs tried this dark lipstick and I honestly don't know how I feel about the looks. How dark will you go?

The Nollywood Actress has sported almost every colour and style you could think of and now she's rocking another new look! She took to Instagram a picture of her dramatic half-shaved haircut today.

Rukky's half shaved hair isn’t the only part of her makeover, though. She has also chopped off some of the length of her weave. While I normally would raise an eyebrows at such a dramatic change, I think this shaved hair looks great on her! The key to this look is tons of confidence — and she's definitely got it!

Fashion Parody In 2014??

I am pretty sure a lot of us saw how fashion parody trended in 2013 and I'm thinking, will it continue in 2014 or not!.Well, it all started out as a good idea. We see designer logos turned with clever wordplay and imagery, plaster the end result on t-shirts. The results were quickly embraced by celebrities, street style stars, and even some huge fashion designers. Everyone seemed to start wearing Celfie, Bucci or Giraunchy tee. Do you agree it should be knocked off or not?

Today, I talk OXFORD!! You know those professional laid back chic intellectual looking shoes originated from Ireland and Scotland? They are known for sophistication in a very nonchalant basic and also for their comfort.

 For a Thursday workday look, it isn't bad to wear one of these. I really can't deal with the stress of wearing heels all through the week. Dipping a bit into menswear can certainly have fantastic style outcomes for us ladies. The tiny trendsetter, who hails from Houston, Texas, breaks down her rockin' faux hawk in four simple steps: 

•  Start with a twist-out. 
•  Pin up both sides.
• Pick your "woots," aka roots.
• Laugh hysterically.

Whether her curls are styled in an updo, adorned with bows or covered up in a turban, it's obvious that Riley loves her hair just the way it is.

Her Mother, photographer Christin Armstrong explained, "The best advice I can give to other parents is to not compare your child's hair to anyone else's. Riley doesn't have loose, springy coils or waist-length tresses, but we'd love it all just the same! Teach them who they are early. Tell them that they're beautiful often. Not just when they're dressed up. Not just when they're hair is combed. Tell them always. Make it hard for anyone to convince them otherwise later."

The Nigerian Award winning alternative soul singer, Emmanuel Bezhiwa Idaluka aka Bez married his long time girlfriend Bolatito Ladoja, the daughter of the ex governor of Oyo-state over the weekend at the Guiding Light Assembly Church in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi on Saturday (January 4). This is the first celebrity wedding of the year and I pray this union is blessed.
