Celebrity Sunglasses Trends

Sunglasses are an important fashion accessory that are worn by everyone and you can never have enough pairs of them. Aviators, cat eye, wraps, butterfly, keyhole, the possibilities are endless!
My pick are these ones worn by our naija celebs. We all know celebrities take out their best attire and inspire our fashion choices. But since it's sunglasses I am interested in, let's have a look at some of the most popular styles trending.

Cat eye sunglasses have been around for a while, but it looks like they’re moving away from their ’50’s roots and into more modern shapes. They now come with embellishments of sorts, in irregular shapes, and can even be worn by men (if they dare).

Clear frames. These look great on both glasses and sunglasses, they’re unisex and very versatile. You might see them on round, square, cat eye or butterfly-shaped frames. They are light and eye-catching.

My Giuliana Rancic/Kris Jenner Home-Made Jacket

The thing is, I've always wanted a neon jacket. I saw the photos of Giuliana Rancic and Kris Jenner in this solid coloured jacket and I was like -I gotta have this! So since I couldn't afford a designer jacket, I decided to sew one for myself. As a seamstress, I always have something new for every occasion. On Tuesday I went to Daviva, got this solid colour fabric, cut out the pattern and I made it happen- I was totally on fire lol. I felt like the point has come for me where I just need to sew and I need to sew like the wind. I completed my jacket yesterday and launched it today-way to go, whoop! I almost changed my mind though, but I'm glad i didn't. Hope you like it.

Oh, Hi J-hud!

How does one even try an outfit wearing a sparkly naked dress? Well, after Rihanna don a silky pink nightgown-the type people only wear to lounge around, looking dramatic in movies- to walk the streets of New York City, Seem like Jennifer Hudson is not against Riri's idea.

The star wore just a black bra and what looked like a silk dressing gown to the Turn It Up For Change event in New York on Tuesday night, and looked really, really happy about her decision. I think she doesn't like any of her clothes, so she decided to take the term underwear as outerwear to a whole new level.  I wonder if this style is going to be a bang on trend.
 What do you think?

Same Outfit; AWKWARD But Awesome

As of recent, i have become very inspired by bright colours that make a statement. i still love wearing black and white - and they are always a good choice- but with the abundance of good colour options out right now, why not have a little fun/? i saw these old photos of these fashionistas on instagram and I'm greatly loving the solid bright coloured dress. this is such a basic item that has so many possibilities. it can be worn casual with a flat sandal, or it can look a little dressier with heels and a tiny waist belt.

Another place bold colours are standing out? Shoes and bags! A bright coloured bag worn with an outfit that is basically neutral can make the outfit pop! Shoes aren't a particularly large surface-area item, so don't worry about the brightness. It's a subtle statement if you will..as long as you don't wear a bunch of different colours with a bright bag and a bright headband or scarf, etc. I love this outfit, do you?

Iconic Fashion Designer Dies At 82

Oscar de la Renta, the  Iconic fashion designer who shaped the wardrobe of socialites and Hollywood stars for more than four decades, has died at 82 years.  He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.  De la Renta died at home Monday evening in Connecticut surrounded by family and friends and "more than a few dogs," according to a handwritten statement signed by his stepdaughter Eliza Reed Bolen and her husband, Alex Bolen.
Born in the Dominican Republic in 1932, de la Renta left home at 18 to study painting in Madrid. It was there he developed a love of fashion design and began an apprenticeship with Cristóbal Balenciaga, who became his mentor, and then, landed a job with Lanvin in Paris. Soon after, he moved to New York City.

De la Renta's specialty was eveningwear, though he also was known for chic daytime suits favored by the women who would gather at the Four Seasons or Le Cirque at lunchtime. His signature looks were voluminous skirts, exquisite embroideries and rich colors.

Most recently, Amal Alamuddin wore a de la Renta-designed wedding dress when she married George Clooney. First lady Laura Bush wore an icy blue gown by de la Renta to the 2005 inaugural ball and Hillary Clinton wore a gold de la Renta in 1997. On the red carpet at the Academy Awards, Penelope Cruz and Sandra Bullock were among the celebrities to don his feminine and opulent gowns. His clothes even were woven into episodes of "Sex and the City" with style icon character Carrie Bradshaw dropping his name - and comparing his designs to poetry.

De la Renta also is survived by an adopted son, Moises, a designer at the company. May His soul rest in peace.

Genevieve Pink Ball

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time where Nigerian women get together to stand up for the cause. The 2014 Genevieve Magazine Pink Ball took place yesterday, October 18 at the Dorchester Event Centre, Lagos. It was a spectacular event that showcased Nigerian Fashion and honoured Nigerian women contributing to a noble cause. I want to believe most of you have probably seen this already but for those who haven't, keep reading for photos of celebs showing their support.

Shoe On Display

My Current shoe finds to fancy is this beautiful Kurt Geiger shoe. Would you rock this? For me, this sandal can go great with a little black dress. Not a tight one-as it can make your thigh look larger and not a long one-as it will shorten your body. A loosed fitting dress will definitely make your leg look toned and muscular-thank me later!

Kate Henshaw, The Horror?

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw at their 3-day play performance 'The Wives' stepped out in Ankara pant, a slippers, a casual top and a gele (head tie) with other celebrities. The event held at the Agip Recital Hall of Muson Centre, Onikan on Saturday, 11 October.

I saw a couple of pictures online and I kept thinking to myself if this was intentional and why she would do this? But I guess she wore that on purpose to portray 'Angela'-her role in the play. For any reason it may be, I think she took it a little further. I am of an opinion that if you would wear a gele (headtie) with an Ankara pant, you may as well wear a full Ankara attire-like she did in the play. Why would anyone even wear a gele on any Ankara pant?-just asking. When you attend a dressy event like this-particularly a cast in the play- the rules change a little. A shabby dressing is never a good idea.

I consider her outfit overdone! But-hey this is a costume for the play! I must admit that I love her smile and her makeup isn't taking her natural beauty away but that bag and the slippers is killing me-argh! An 'effortless style' always look classy and approachable. She has a good sense of style in real life. *smiles*
